1. Scope
This policy applies to personal information collected through the Site, including when you browse programs, use the shopping cart, submit a checkout or contact form, subscribe to updates, or communicate with us by email or phone. It does not apply to third-party websites linked from the Site.
2. What we collect
Depending on how you use the Site, we may collect:
- Contact and identity data: name, email address, phone number, city or province, and messages you send us.
- Booking and program data: preferred dates, delivery mode (in-person, online, hybrid), goals or notes you choose to provide, and references to trainer packages you select.
- Technical data: browser type, device identifiers, approximate region derived from IP address, and pages viewed — typically in aggregate or log form.
- Cart data (local): product identifiers and quantities may be stored in your browser using local storage so your cart persists between pages. This data stays on your device unless you submit an order or contact request that references those items.
We do not use this storefront to collect payment card numbers, full payment account credentials, or government-issued identification numbers.
3. Purposes and legal bases
We use personal information to:
- Process and respond to reservation requests and customer support inquiries;
- Operate and improve the Site, including analytics on aggregated usage patterns;
- Send transactional or service-related messages (e.g., confirmation of your request);
- Comply with applicable law and protect our rights, users, and the public.
Where Canadian privacy law requires a legal basis, we rely on consent (e.g., marketing emails where applicable), performance of a request you initiate, our legitimate interests in operating a secure marketplace (balanced against your rights), and legal obligation where required.
4. Sharing of information
We may share information with:
- Service providers who host the Site, send email, or provide analytics — under contract and only for defined purposes;
- Professional advisors (e.g., lawyers, accountants) when necessary;
- Authorities when required by law or to protect safety and rights.
We do not sell your personal information as a commercial list. Any future “sale” or targeted advertising use as defined by law would be disclosed separately with opt-out rights where required.
5. International transfers
Data may be processed in Canada and, where we use cloud providers, in other countries with appropriate safeguards (e.g., contractual clauses) consistent with applicable Canadian privacy requirements.
6. Retention
We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution periods. Cart data in local storage remains until you clear browser data or we overwrite it through a new session policy. Marketing consents are refreshed periodically.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a privacy regulator. In Canada, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial privacy commissioner as applicable.
To exercise rights, email team@thefamilyworkation.com. We may verify your identity before responding.
8. Children
The Site is not directed at children under the age of majority. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent where required by law.
9. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure; we encourage you to use strong passwords and updated browsers.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change, and we may post a notice on the Site for material changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance unless otherwise required by law.
